Bob McWilliams
General Manager

Our new General Manager, Bob McWilliams is a native of Grand Forks and is married to his wife, Mary, a math teacher at Grand Forks Central High School. He is a graduate of Grand Forks Central and played basketball at Mayville State University before earning his degree in Recreation Administration from the University of North Dakota. Bob began his professional career at the Grand Forks YMCA in 1997 as Membership Sales Director. In 2000, he was appointed Chief Operations Officer, and in 2018 he advanced to President and CEO—a role he held until joining GFCC. Bob and Mary have two children: their son, Johnny, and his wife, Erin, who reside in Fargo, ND, and their daughter, Stephanie, and her husband, Chase, who live in Farmington, MN. In his free time, Bob enjoys sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family. Bob and Vanessa will be sharing an office, so that is where you will typically find him when he’s not out visiting with members at the simulators or in the pub.
Collin Cannon
Course Superintendent

Collin is originally from Hutchinson, MN and completed his Bachelor’s of Science degree from North Dakota State University majoring in Sports and Urban Turfgrass Management. Collin began working for the GFCC in 2014 as the Assistant Superintendent and has been the Golf Course Superintendent since 2016. He enjoys watching sports, hunting in the fall, and traveling when time allows. Collin also enjoys spending time with his wife Vicki, and together they have three children; Elowen, Everet, and Easton. Collin has achieved his Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) certification in 2026.

Mike Slominski, PGA

Mike is from Grand Forks and graduated from the University of North Dakota where he played three years of collegiate golf. In 2018, Mike became a PGA Golf Professional. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Allison, 4 children, and other family and friends.

 

Justin Welsh

Justin Welsh is a Grand Forks, ND native who began his culinary journey at the age of 15, working in local restaurants. In 2004, he pursued his passion by attending culinary school in Portland, Oregon. Justin is inspired by the creative process of experimenting with different cuisines and learning through trial and error. His favorite dish to prepare is Beef Bourguignon—a classic that reflects his love for rich, comforting flavors. At home, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, Rachel, and their three children: Gracie, Michael, and Ralph. He credits Rachel as his favorite local chef, while his culinary hero is the legendary Julia Child.

Keila Schmitz

Keila Schmitz is originally from Wadena, MN, and has called Grand Forks, ND, home since 2020. A graduate with three degrees, she ultimately discovered her true passion in serving and connecting with people. With more than 10 years of experience in the service industry, Keila finds great fulfillment in being part of life’s biggest milestones—as well as the everyday moments that matter most.

Outside of work, Keila enjoys cooking, spending time with family, participating in recreational leagues, and preparing for her future appearance on Wheel of Fortune.

Keila is excited to embrace this opportunity and looks forward to getting to know the members, staff, and community of the Grand Forks Country Club.

Evan Bergerson
Finance & Accounting Lead

Evan is from Lakeville, Minnesota, and serves as the Finance and Accounting Lead. He came to Grand Forks to attend the University of North Dakota, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Commercial Aviation and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Managerial Finance & Accounting, with plans to graduate in May 2027.
 
Since joining the club in January 2026, Evan has enjoyed working with members, staff, and vendors while supporting the club’s operations. Outside of work, Evan holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate with a Multi-Engine rating and is working toward becoming a Certified Flight Instructor. In his free time, Evan enjoys watching movies, following financial markets, and going to the gym.
Kristen Clay

Kristen Clay grew up in a small town near Grand Forks, where she began working in an office setting at just 14 years old. She later pursued a different path, earning her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mary. Over the years, Kristen has gained experience across a variety of roles, ultimately discovering a strong passion for the organization, connection, and service found in office environments.
 

Kristen spent several years living in Bismarck and the Twin Cities before returning to Grand Forks to be closer to family and raise her three children—Joey, Chloe, and Grace. She is excited to bring her diverse background and experience to the Grand Forks Country Club, where she looks forward to supporting the team and building meaningful relationships with both members and colleagues.
